a gothic quantum romanticism / field note 001

love without patience

a small theory of wanting someone so violently that probability itself begins to resemble devotion.
ENTANGLEMENT DESIRE NO WAITING
↓ ENTER THE FIELD
01 / THE PREMISE

i do not want a love that asks me to wait.

patience is beautiful in a laboratory. love is not a laboratory. love is the particle that refuses to remain where you left it.

Quantum mechanics gives us a language for things that become strange when we insist on observing them too closely. Love has always behaved this way. A person becomes possibility. A possibility becomes obsession. Observation changes the thing being observed. Distance becomes unbearable. The future begins collapsing into the present.

ψ love = possibility × desire THE WAVEFUNCTION OF WANTING
02 / THREE STATES OF DEVOTION

the heart is not a clock. it is a field.

STATE 01

SUPERPOSITION

Before you know whether someone loves you, every future exists. Kiss. Rejection. Marriage. Ruin. The heart survives by holding contradictory worlds simultaneously.

STATE 02

ENTANGLEMENT

Two distant things begin behaving as one system. Their separation becomes irrelevant to the equation. Your body learns another person's absence as though absence were a physical object.

STATE 03

COLLAPSE

Eventually the universe demands an answer. The infinite romantic possibilities collapse into one brutal fact: yes, no, or not yet. Desire hates this part.

03 / ENTANGLEMENT
i loved you
before the measurement.

before the proof.

before the universe
had finished deciding
what we were.
YOU / STATE α
ME / STATE β

04 / THE ROMANTIC ERROR

waiting assumes time is neutral.

it isn't.

Time changes the observer. It changes the object of desire. It creates alternate histories that never happened but still manage to hurt. It gives hesitation enough room to disguise itself as wisdom.

There is a particular cruelty in being told to wait for something you already know you want. The instruction sounds reasonable because clocks are considered objective. But desire has never respected clocks.

I do not believe every feeling must become an action. I believe something more dangerous: some feelings become less true when forced to survive indefinitely without an answer.

05 / QUANTUM ROMANTICISM

desire is a form of measurement.

To want someone is to begin measuring the universe around them. Their messages acquire weight. Their silence acquires duration. A glance becomes evidence. A room becomes coordinates. Every ordinary event begins carrying information.

This is why love can feel supernatural without requiring anything supernatural to have happened. Attention reorganizes reality. The beloved occupies a disproportionate amount of mental space. Suddenly the universe has a center.

Δlove ∝ Δattention THE MORE WE OBSERVE, THE LESS INNOCENT THE FIELD BECOMES
06 / NO PATIENCE

I want the kind of love that arrives.

Not because love should be rushed, but because uncertainty is not the highest form of romance.

I want the door opened. The hand extended. The message sent. The confession spoken while the voice is still shaking. I want the beautiful terror of a decision.

There is something gothic about wanting immediately. It means admitting that the future is not guaranteed. It means refusing to worship potential simply because potential cannot disappoint you.

07 / FINAL STATE

if love is a quantum field, then let me be measured by what i do with it.

NO MORE WAITING FOR THE WAVEFUNCTION TO DECIDE
