REV 1.0
The historical Picatrix is a major text of astral magic. This reconstruction treats its central idea as an information architecture: celestial position enters the machine, symbolic correspondences transform the input, and an object is produced according to a chosen celestial condition.
The first layer of the machine concerns the architecture of the heavens. The seven visible planetary powers are represented here as computational channels. Their traditional correspondences are preserved as historical data rather than scientific claims.
| DAY | RULER | SYMBOL | TRADITIONAL VECTOR |
|---|---|---|---|
| SUNDAY | SUN | ☉ | AUTHORITY / ILLUMINATION |
| MONDAY | MOON | ☽ | PERCEPTION / CHANGE |
| TUESDAY | MARS | ♂ | FORCE / CONFLICT |
| WEDNESDAY | MERCURY | ☿ | KNOWLEDGE / LANGUAGE |
| THURSDAY | JUPITER | ♃ | EXPANSION / JUDGMENT |
| FRIDAY | VENUS | ♀ | ATTRACTION / BEAUTY |
| SATURDAY | SATURN | ♄ | LIMIT / TIME |
Planetary hours divide the interval between sunrise and sunset, and the interval between sunset and the following sunrise, into twelve unequal divisions. The ruler of the first hour follows the ruler of the day. Subsequent hours follow the traditional Chaldean planetary sequence.
| HOUR | PLANET | SYMBOL | STATE |

Medieval astral magic frequently organized the world into chains of correspondence. A celestial power could be represented by a number, image, color, metal, plant, stone, animal or divine name. This page converts that system into a searchable symbolic database.
| PLANET | METAL | COLOR | NUMBER | SYMBOLIC FIELD |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| SATURN | LEAD | BLACK | 3 | TIME / LIMIT |
| JUPITER | TIN | BLUE | 4 | EXPANSION / ORDER |
| MARS | IRON | RED | 5 | FORCE / CONFLICT |
| SUN | GOLD | GOLD | 6 | LIGHT / AUTHORITY |
| VENUS | COPPER | GREEN | 7 | ATTRACTION / HARMONY |
| MERCURY | MERCURY | MIXED | 8 | KNOWLEDGE / TRANSMISSION |
| MOON | SILVER | WHITE | 9 | CHANGE / REFLECTION |
The fourth layer concerns election: selecting an appropriate celestial moment before beginning an operation. In this modern reconstruction, the operation is computational. The engine does not claim to produce supernatural effects. It records and transforms symbolic conditions.
Later grimoire traditions associate Stolas with astronomy, knowledge of plants, and precious stones. This page deliberately separates those historical textual associations from claims about literal supernatural agency.
