dark creative expression

I got in trouble once for drawing Santa Clause in catholic school. Everyone was making these really classic jolly Santas and I wanted to draw something different. My Santa was a machine. He had big robot spider legs and dropped bombs on children's houses. I thought it was cool. It reminded me of the evil Santa from Futurama. My teachers didn't think so.

I think making dark art is a different experience than doing more classically accepted visuals and themes. I've had to accept that people sometimes have strong negative reactions to dark artistic expression. It'll probably stick with them for longer than they'd like as well. I think sometimes people deflect their fear by antagonizing you for making it. Love and hate are the same thing at different degrees, so I guess it's not anything to worry about.

I like rearranging the dead flowers in my room lately. I've been thinking about filling my room with more. It does something for me. That's all that matters.
