I watched the movie Air Doll directed by Hirokazu Kore-eda. I went into it knowing nothing but the premise. Bae Doona plays an inflatable sex doll named Nozomi that develops consciousness and learns about life, herself, and falls in love. It can be considered a "coming to self" story as it focuses on existential questions regarding human nature.

This is my first time seeing Bae Doona in a movie, at least that I can recall. I thought her performance was great! Her interpretation of a sex doll come to life had an ethereal air to it. I was convinced that she was truly in awe of the world and how it worked. When things hurt or confused her, I shared her pain. Remembering similar experiences of disillusionment.

I'll refrain from spoiling too much of the film, as I want you to watch it yourself! The less you know about this movie the better. The ending is alarming, beautiful, and makes this a truly haunting film. I can confidently say this is one of my favorite movies.
